Mahjong Connect Instructions

Mahjong Connect is a evolution of this popular board game that is also sometimes known as Four Rivers or Shisen-Sho. The objective of the game is to match pairs of tiles that reach other using a path that uses only two (or less) turns. These tiles will then be removed from the layout. The goal is to remove all the tiles from each level.

You can select any visible tile with the mouse as there are no selection restrictions. The game will show if the move is legal whenever one tile is selected and the mouse pointer is over another tile. There is a pictorial example of how moves work before starting the first level.

At bottom of the screen you will notice a wavy bar that represents the timer. You must beat each level before it runs out, however every time you match a pair you will receive some more time. If you can't see any moves you can use the Hint button up to 10 times through out the whole game. After completing a level you get one more hint added, so you really must use them sparingly. If there are no more moves available the images will shuffle themselves without any penalty to you.

You get 10 points for each pair removed, but if you keep on quickly removing more pairs you will get bonus points through a multiplier. When you complete a level you'll get an additional time bonus.

There are 10 levels in total with each level consisting of a different amounts of tiles, imagery and changes to the directions that the blocks move after being removed.

Blocks fall downwards when they are removed on levels 1 and 8.
Blocks move upwards when they are removed on levels 2, 5 and 9.
Blocks move from left to right on levels 4, 7 and 10
Blocks move from right to left on levels 3 and 6.
One hint is to scan around the edges of the layout for matches.
